IoT Payments

Secure payments for every connected device

We help payment companies, device makers and cities embed secure payments into connected devices, from smart terminals and vending to vehicles and transit, with device security, edge processing and lifecycle management designed in.

The challenge

What our clients are up against

01

Securing devices in the field

Payment devices are often unattended, physically exposed and hard to update, so trust has to start at manufacture.

02

Connectivity you can't count on

Devices lose signal, run on batteries or sit at the edge of the network, yet still need to authorize payments reliably.

03

Bridging devices and payment systems

Industrial and IoT protocols differ from payment messaging, and each new device integration risks becoming a one-off.

What we do

How we cover IoT Payments

01

Device security and lifecycle

Give every device a trusted identity from first boot to retirement.

  • IoT device authentication and secure boot
  • Device provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Industrial IoT payment and data security
  • 5G and embedded SIM (eSIM) integration for payment devices
02

Edge processing and integration

Authorize payments close to the device and connect it cleanly to payment systems.

  • Smart terminals and edge payment processing
  • Edge computing for real-time payment authorization
  • Low-power payment designs for battery-operated devices
  • Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), Sparkplug B and Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) integration
  • IoT payment gateways and protocol translation
  • Payment analytics and telemetry processing
03

Connected commerce use cases

Apply these patterns where payments meet the physical world.

  • Connected vehicle payment integration
  • Smart city and transit payment infrastructure
  • Vending machines and unattended retail payments

FAQ

Questions we often hear

Can't find your answer? Ask a consultant.

Can IoT devices accept payments when they are offline?

Yes, within limits you define. We design offline authorization rules, risk limits and secure transaction storage on the device or edge gateway, then reliable forwarding once connectivity returns. The right balance between availability and risk depends on transaction values, device type and your scheme and acquirer requirements.

How do you protect payment credentials on a device?

We start with a hardware root of trust, secure boot and unique device identities provisioned at manufacture. Sensitive keys stay in secure elements or protected hardware, credentials are tokenized where possible, and every device can be monitored, updated and revoked remotely throughout its life.

Which protocols and networks do you work with?

We integrate device protocols such as MQTT, Sparkplug B and CoAP with payment gateways and ISO 8583 or API-based backends. On the network side we work with cellular options including 5G and eSIM, and design for intermittent connectivity and low-power operation.

Do connected devices need payment certification?

It depends on the design. Devices that read cards typically need Payment Card Industry PIN Transaction Security (PCI PTS) approval for their payment components and EMV certification for acceptance. Devices that send tokenized or account-based payments through an API can have a smaller scope. We help you choose an architecture that keeps certification manageable.
